Teynham Community Pre-School

Learning Programme

The government has set in place the Early Years Foundation Stage, which guides Early Years Provisions, including Reception classes in Primary schools, in all areas of learning, development and welfare.
Our Pre-school uses the document to plan play opportunities that are both stimulating and challenging.
The pre-school recognises that firm foundations in Early Years build future academic, social and emotional success.

Planning covers the following six areas of development.

Personal, Social and emotional development.
Communication, language and literacy.
Problem solving, reasoning and Numeracy.
Knowledge and understanding of the world.
Physical development.
Creative development.

If all of this sounds a bit daunting, don’t worry! What it means in practice is that children enjoy a wide range of activities, such as making models, painting, cooking, playing with construction toys, singing and listening to stories.

Children make use of our fantastic outside area what ever the weather (we have a great selection of brollies and Wellies).

Many of the activities are based around a theme, such as, `My family` or festivals from different cultures.

We already have a healthy snack bar that the children help prepare and enjoy coming to throughout the morning.
